After a year of other projects, we are now back once a month at one of Scandinavia’s best tiki bars, Brass Monkey in Copenhagen. Fab tiki drinks and a great party crowd! And of course we loved their warm welcome back poster at the entrance!
First Copenhagen Soul Weekender, Aug 24-27, went by toooo fast! We are so amazed at the fab crowd that turned up from all over the world, the three talented guys behind the idea (John Berchtold, Ash Pederick – who designed the amazing poster – and Andreas Beraha), and the cool venues the events took place in. A great start for a festival that already got so much soul!
Back at the decks at Brass Monkey! We absolutely love that bar! Ah, the smell of tiki drinks on fire…! Don’t miss out if you’re passing through Copenhagen.
We had a fab night as NYC-based dj Sheila B. made a stop in Copenhagen on her European tour, invited by John Berchtold to Mesteren and laerlingen. She made the Danish crowd go crazy by spinning some stunning tunes from her vast collection! Great meeting her and getting the opportunity to bring her a little Swedish souvenir: Sylvia Vrethammar’s cover of Son of a preacher man in Swedish. It was later played by Sheila on her amazing radio show at wfmu.org We loved your set, Sheila!
Last gig at Mesteren & Laerlingen was completely crazy! People were dancing everywhere, non stop for five hours! I’m really looking forward to get back to this rockin’ joint in Copenhagen! As usual I’m gonna share the decks with my fabulous partner in crime – DJ Morticia. She’s bringing some new stuff in her ruby red beauty box full of wild gals from 50s & 60s! Can’t wait!
Sharing the turntables with Denmark’s mostest Monkey Club master – DJ Dusty Wax on Thursday 20th of August at 50s Rockers Concert Party which is a part of the Magic Carpet Festival in Copenhagen. Wild party, wild rock’n’roll and vintage motorcycles. Best way to end the summer.
Dig or dance while me and the fabulous DJ Morticia are spinning some wicked 45s at Mesteren & Laerlingen in Copenhagen!
UPDATED! Pics from the show!
